Prattville city leaders called a special meeting on Tuesday to focus on economic development.

The leaders passed a resolution that authorizes the mayor to enter into an economic development agreement with city and county groups as well as local business, which include Laney Properties and Long-Lewis of the River Regions, Incorporated.

The meeting led into the budget works session to discuss the budget for the next fiscal year.

"We think we have a good budget in place," said City Council member Willie Wood, Jr. "The council has been working hard with their committees all during the year, especially during this budget time so that has played a good part in us coming together and working with the mayor."

In the budget, officials are moving to change around employment in sanitation, urban management, and planning development. For the most part, adding jobs to improve efficiency.
