Warrior woman accused of embezzling $200K

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

Hoover police have arrested a Warrior woman suspected of stealing more than $200,000 from her employer.

Rebecca Ann Higginbotham is accused of stealing and forging at least 135 checks and directing the money to her personal accounts between 2007 and 2014.

Higginbotham worked in the Accounts Receivable department for Birmingham Internal Medicine associates. She was arrested at her home on Tuesday afternoon.

She's been charged with seven counts of second degree forgery, six counts of first degree theft of property and one count of second degree theft of property.

Higginbotham  is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $300,000 bond. Authorities say this is an ongoing investigation and more charges are expected.
