SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WYFF) - Fifteen children living in a double-wide trailer were put into protective custody and seven adults were arrested, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a home in Woodruff after a school official from Spartanburg School District Six alerted them to possible sexual abuse between children in the home.

When a deputy arrived, he said he found a double-wide trailer surrounded by piles of trash and clothes. The deputy said he saw six children swimming in a pool that was green because of algae growth.

Inside the home deputies said they found animal feces on the floor, roach infestation in the cabinets in the kitchen and throughout the home.

The deputy said there was a strong intense odor of urine  throughout the home, multiple medicine bottles laying around the home as well as unsecured guns that the deputy said were easily accessible to the children in the home.

The 15 children were put in the custody of the Department of Social Services.

Lt. Kevin Bobo said he doesn't ever remember this many children being taken into protective custody in a single incident in his 30 years. He said the children range in age from infant to 13.

Seven people are charged with unlawful neglect of children in this case:

Cherie Rose Toney
Aaron Eugene Dodson
Andy Lee Dunbar
David Russell Hayes
Brianna Hope Henderson
Karen Lynn Dunbar
Cindy A. Cox

Bobo said one man's ex-girlfriend and current girlfriend were living in the home. Investigators said one woman's husband and ex-boyfriend were also living in the home.

Bobo said more charges could be pending.
