WESTFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Comrades of the missing pilot whose jet crashed in a rural area of western Virginia Wednesday morning traveled to the state to assist in the search Thursday.

The 104th Fighter Wing of Barnes Air National Guard Base took to their Facebook page Wednesday evening, saying they are preparing to travel to the crash site at George Washington National Forest, where the wreckage of an anonymous pilot's F-15 fighter jet was found.

They traveled on a C-130 Hercules from the 103rd Airlift Wing out of Bradley Air National Guard Base in CT.

Search and rescue missions continued throughout the night Wednesday and throughout the day Thursday near Deerfield Valley, Virginia for the pilot whose identity has not yet been released.
