Wreck involving BPD officer under investigation

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A wreck involving a Birmingham police officer's patrol car and another vehicle is under investigation.

The cars crashed just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd Avenue North and 11th Street North.

The BPD officer was taken to UAB Hospital, where she is under observation. The driver and passenger in the other vehicle, a red Pontiac, were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital.

There were no life-threatening injuries, according to BPD Lt. Scott Thurmond.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
