TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A truck on the railroad tracks stopped traffic on the streets and the railroad on Tucson's west side early Thursday morning.

Crews from Northwest Fire District were dispatched to the scene near West Ruthrauff Road and Interstate 10 after receiving information about a man suffering a medical emergency.

The incident happened north of Ruthrauff on the railroad tracks. Crews determined the man had suffered a medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his pickup and trailer.  The truck eventually came to a stop on the railroad tracks.

Officials said a train had stopped to avoid hitting the truck before emergency crews arrived.

The driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His condition was not reported.

Personnel from Union Pacific were on the scene to investigate the incident and to help clear the tracks.
