MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) -

The smell of marijuana coming from two teens' backpacks at school led DeSoto detectives to a man who lives at their home - who's now accused of growing weed there.

Jon Ryan Temple, 32 of the 5000 block of Hwy. 191 in Mansfield, is in jail, charged with multiple drug counts.

DeSoto Parish deputies went to the home Wednesday but were unable to get anyone to answer the door. The next morning, they went back and Temple allegedly let them into the home to search it for narcotics.

While they were there, detectives found about 5 pounds of high-grade marijuana, .5 pound of hashish, lidocaine without a prescription and 18 marijuana plants growing inside of the house.

They also found drug paraphernalia and four growing stations complete with UV lighting, heat lamps, a ventilation system and watering system with a rain water collection system.

Temple is charged with possession of schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute; manufacturing/cultivation of schedule I marijuana; possession of schedule II; two counts of unlawful use ocontrolledoled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Temple is being held at the DeSoto Parish Detention Center pending bond.
