Food for Thought: 8/28

Lubbock health inspectors checked out the cleanliness of dozens of restaurants this week, but only one made the list.

KCBD NewsChannel 11's Christy Hartin dishes out the violations.

Thai Thai at 5018 50th had nine critical violations.

  • Raw eggs were above 41 degrees.
  • An employee was drinking out of a bottle without a straw.
  • Mint leaves were in a containers with grass and stickers. Establishment was unable to show a receipt for the item.
  • There were many unidentifiable food products in the kitchen. Food items need to be kept in original containers so it can be sourced-verified.
  • Papayas were not in good condition.
  • Several ready to eat sauces in fillings were held past their expiration. Cut limes and melons did not have a day mark.
  • A hand sink was not accessible.
  • Toxic items were not labeled.

The inspector notes, due to the number and the nature of the violations management did not show proper food safety knowledge.

Management tells us all violations were corrected at the time of the inspection.

The report shows that as well.
