2-A-Days: Center

CENTER, TX (KSLA) - The Center Roughriders enter the 2014 season without quarterback Caiden Rainbolt and wide receiver Josh Burns.

Head Coach Kevin Goodwin says both players will just play baseball this season. The Roughriders are coming off a three and nine season. They return six starters on offense and seven on defense.

Coach Goodwin says there is no fancy motto or phrase. For them it comes down to one word.

Goodwin said, "The team saying and team goal week in and week out is win. You know everybody's happier, grass is greener, food tastes better in the cafeteria, classes are easier when you win. So that's the number one deal is make sure we come out here and put ourselves in a position where we can be successful."

The Roughriders boast one of the best receiving corps in their district. They're led by Sophomore Octavius Evans.

Last year, as a freshman, Evans caught 67 passes for 734 yards and 8 touchdowns. He's big, physical and fast. Evans says he's better than last year.

Evans said, "Well I just worked hard, came out here every day just put in the work so whatever happens Friday, you know, no lacking just keep playing don't get the big head. You know every time I step out on the field I gotta show them what I'm worth."

Center travels to Waskom this Friday for our End Zone Game of the Week.
