The Lufkin Panther faithful gathered at Abe Martin Stadium for their Annual Meet the Panthers pep rally Thursday night.
The Panther fans met all those involved with Lufkin football including the team, cheerleaders, trainers and drill team.
Not only was it a chance to meet the football team, the community took advantage of the opportunity to show their support for Friday night's game against the Longview Lobos.
“We are excited for this season. We can't wait to come out here tomorrow night to Abe Martin Stadium, slap some Lobos around, and we're ready for a great season,” said Panther fan Jeff Bates.
At the pep rally, hundreds of students and community members filled the stands at Abe Martin Stadium to cheer on the players as they were announced one at a time.
“It's loud, everybody yells, and it's a really big here. Everybody knows everybody on the football team so we get to see them in the classroom and basically say good job, and good luck this Friday,” said Lufkin student Parker Ford.
While it's been a long summer of training for the players, it's been a long waiting game for football fans.
“It's super exciting. We're ready to cheer on the boys and get wins this year,” said Lufkin student Hannah Dunkin.
Friday night's game against the Longview Lobos will start at 7:30 p.m. at Abe Martin Stadium.
