SEALE, AL (WTVM) -

Residents in east Alabama are rounding up the Labor Day celebration at one of the Alabama's oldest courthouses.

The courthouse located in Seale, Ala. is the third oldest in the state. This is the first fair since 2010 when the fair restarted, and it originated in 1980 to raise money to refurbish the old courthouse after it began to deteriorate.

Gary Head, president of the Old Seale Courthouse Committee, says many people were glad to see the fair's return.

"Most people I've talked to are elated that we started it back," Head said. "They appreciate us trying to keep this beautiful building up and refurbish and maintain it. We just appreciate all the vendors and all the ppl that come and all the support we get. We appreciate each and every one of them."

The Labor Day Fair raised enough money to remodel, add on central heat and air and make other updates to the courthouse. Now the committee leaders say the focus is an elevator for the building.

Around 65 vendors from Georgia, Alabama and Florida were in town, giving fairgoers plenty of food to fill up on. There was a wide range of Southern cuisine like fried gator, fried Oreos, and of course plenty of barbecue.
