HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

One Hoover city leader says he doesn't believe raising the sales tax is the way to help the school system.

Resident Dan Fulton told us earlier this week that raising the sales tax one percent could help the financially-strapped school system.

He presented that idea to the council on Tuesday.

"We'll certainly listen to the citizens and see what their interest is," councilor Jack Wright said.

Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey has said in the past that he believes people are already taxed enough.
