Alabama State Troopers say northbound traffic is being diverted to allow wreckers to remove the over turned 18-wheeler near mile marker 19, near Shorter.
Officials say the Alabama Department of Transportation is on the scene and is diverting traffic to U.S. 80.
According to State Trooper Cook the crash occurred around 5:29 a.m. between the Waugh and Shorter exits in Macon County. The 18-wheeler, which was carrying a load of bananas, overturned causing the lane closure.
Officials are currently working to turn the truck upright and clean up some diesel fuel that leaked into the roadway. After rush hour officials say northbound traffic will be detoured to allow the two large wreckers to remove the wreckage.
