If you're lucky enough to enjoy your job, you're not alone.

Vonda Byrd shares that same blessing and makes it a point to pay it forward.

Byrd spends her days at the Montgomery Area Council on Aging thinking of others.

"We go through life rushing, so when we take time out for others, it's a joy," said Byrd.

You won't find Byrd rushing while preparing warm meals five days a week for nearly 400 senior citizens who are ill and homebound. Byrd prepares the food with care and can't imagine doing anything else.

"I feel good inside when I help them. I feel joy because I am able to do it for them," she said.

For Ms. Byrd the giving is a two-way street.

"I'm going to get to their age hopefully. In other ways I'm helping out my mother by helping them," she said.

With the help of a friend, Byrd says there is no doubt she's become more patient, a clarity of what it really means to lend a hand.

"This is priceless. I am not giving up anything. I'm only helping others," Byrd said.

Vonda Byrd says she could retire today if she wanted to, but no way.

Byrd is having too much fun and enjoying the job too much to call it a career.
