Late night fatal shooting in Birmingham under investigation

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham Police are investigating a fatal overnight shooting, their seventh homicide in the last six days.

Sgt. John Tanks confirmed officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of 4th Terrace North around 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Detectives say they have learned the victim was sitting on his porch when two unknown black males approached the house on foot and shot the victim.

Authorities say the suspects got into a burgundy or dark colored car and fled the scene.

Police are not releasing the victim's name or age at this time but say he was a black man and was shot in the chest.

Lt. Sean Edwards says the incidint was not a random shooting. Police confirm the suspects got into an argument with the victim which led to the shooting.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
