BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police are investigating the ninth homicide in a week.

Officers responded to a welfare check around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday in the 100 block of 6th Avenue South.

Upon arriving, the victim's relative told them the victim's employer had called asking about the victim. The relative went to the victim's home and saw that something was wrong.

Officers found the victim inside, dead from stab wounds to the chest.

Detectives have since learned that officers have responded to  the location at other times to resolve disputes between the victim and a "live in associate."

That "associate" is wanted for questioning, according to police.
