AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

From the Lee County Coroner's office:

A former Auburn University student was found dead in his apartment on Thursday.

At approximately 11:30 AM Thursday, Auburn Police, Auburn Fire and East Alabama Medical Center EMS received a 911 call to an apartment in the 300 block of East Glenn Avenue to a subject unresponsive. Upon arrival, they found 30 year old David Richard McRae with no signs of life. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced McCrae dead at the scene at 11:45 AM.

It is reported that McRae had been sick the last few days and when he did not report for work at the library on the AU campus Thursday morning and could not be reached by phone, his supervisor became concerned and went to check on him. When he could not get McRae to answer the door, he summoned the apartment complex manager and they entered the locked apartment and discovered McRae in his bed.

No foul play is suspected and McRae was considered to be a healthy individual. His body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a post mortem exam to determine the cause of death.

The death investigation remains ongoing by the Auburn Police, the Lee County Coroner's Office and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.
