WSFA 12 News has confirmed that Brent Springford, Jr., the son of Brent and Charlotte Springford of Montgomery, has been arrested in Colorado.

Springford, Jr. has been the lone suspect in the murders of his parents over the Thanksgiving holiday. They were found dead in their Montgomery home the day after Thanksgiving.

Shortly before the Montgomery Police Department 10:00 a.m. news conference Thursday morning, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office in Colorado confirmed for WSFA 12 News that Springford Jr. had been arrested on a fugitive of justice warrant in Louisville.

WSFA 12 News has learned that he was picked up and booked in the Boulder County Jail at 3:20 a.m. (Mountain Time) Thursday. He faces two counts of capital murder. He was denied bond in his first court appearance.

During the Montgomery Police news conference, Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright congratulated the police department on their hard work in working the case. He says it if wasn't for the hard work of the police officers they would not have been able to make the announcement today.

Montgomery Police say they are working on extraditing Springford to Montgomery. They don't when he will be back in Alabama.

Brent Springford, Jr. has called WSFA 12 News twice since news of his parents' death broke. In those conversations with WSFA 12 News, Springford said he loved his parents and didn't understand why police and family members thought he was involved in their deaths.

You can listen to those phone calls below. Stay with WSFA 12 News for the latest on this developing story.
