MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - We'd like to acknowledge the Montgomery County Task Force on Domestic Violence who celebrated its 20th anniversary last week. Since 1994 this task force's mission has been to unite prosecution, law enforcement and victim services in response to domestic violence. They've met monthly over all these years with the goal to provide a community response to issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and other forms of family violence and abuse in the Montgomery area.
Through the efforts and collaboration of numerous law enforcement and family protection service providers involved in this task force the Brooks-Sellers One Place Family Justice Center was established. A first of its kind in Alabama “one stop shop” providing support not only to victims of domestic violence but also providing additional services for child and elder abuse cases.
We all wish there wasn't a need for such an organization, but we are thankful to everyone over the past 20 years that committed their time, energy and resources to being there for those in need. We applaud you all.
