Selma Police search for attempted murder suspect

The search is underway for a suspect wanted for attempted murder in Selma, according to officials. 

Officials say on October 25 at approximately 12:36 a.m. officers responded to the area of Philpot Avenue and Lauderdale Street on a call of shots fired. Once they arrived they located a 25-year-old black male sustaining a gunshot to chest, buttocks, and lower abdominal area. The victim was transported to a Montgomery hospital in critical condition.

After an initial investigation detectives were able to identify Leroy Jackson Jr., 6'1, 250 pounds, as the suspect. Jackson is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous. Law enforcement officers are advised to use extreme caution if Jackson is encountered. 

Anyone with information that can lead to the whereabouts or arrest of Jackson are urged to contact Crime Stoppers, the Selma Police Department or your local police.
