What is Email Phishing?

Phishing is a computer industry term referring to the practice of emailing people and 'fishing' for their information. Often, the emails appear to come from reliable banks or other financial institutions.

You can read more about the practice and look at sample emails at the Anti-Phishing Working Group's web site.

If you receive what you believe to be a phishing email, you can report it to the FBI's Internet Fraud Complaint Center.
