Editorial - Viewer Feedback: "Obvious"

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Our editorial last week focusing on the recently released report by the Equal Justice Initiative regarding our Alabama Prison system led to the following feedback on wsfa.com and our WSFA 12 News station Facebook page. Here is just a sampling:

Melanie provided the following, “Is there THAT much widespread corruption in our prison system, or is there a bunch of lawyers drumming up business in the EJI. Doesn't the State have a committee that investigates jails in the same manner that they investigate restaurants, service stations, banks, etc? Let's see the STATE report. Let's see REAL proof before you jump to conclusions that will make the EJI lawyers rich off the State taxpayers.”

Robert responded with, “Obviously the State of Alabama could care less what the EJI attorneys think.”

And finally, “Mr. Gaston I appreciate you bringing attention to the Department of Corrections (DOC). I'm a retired correctional officer and I wish the Governor would get someone to really investigate the DOC; it's a lot worse than you can imagine. The Tutwiler incident is only the tip of the iceberg. Sir where there's smoke there's fire and in this case an inferno - trust me.”

As always, we encourage and appreciate your feedback.
