South Alabama accepts invitation to Raycom Media Camellia Bowl

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The University of South Alabama has announced they have accepted an invitation to play in the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl according to sources.

A press conference was held at the university campus in Mobile on Wednesday where Executive Director Johnny Williams extended the invitation to South Alabama President Dr. Tony Waldrop, Director of Athletics Dr. Joel Erdmann, head football coach Joey Jones and Student Government Association President Danielle Watson.

USA will play a team from the Mid-American Conference. That team will be decided late Saturday or Sunday.

"We're extremely excited that South Alabama will play the first bowl game in school history at the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl," said Johnny Williams, Executive Director of the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. "This is a historic moment being the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl's first game and the University of South Alabama first bowl appearance."

The game is set for Dec. 20, at 8:15 p.m. at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery. ESPN will televise the game.

General admission tickets are $20 while premium seating will be $25. Those wanting a ticket to a field suite will pay $100, and those looking to get into the ESPN Zone, a luxury lounge with drinks, food and other amenities, will be charged $150.
