Kacey Drescher is an anchor and reporter for WSFA 12 News.
Bringing her experience as a newsroom leader in Montana, Kacey joined the WSFA 12 News team in December 2013, working behind the scenes as the producer of Alabama Live! It was clear that Kacey's skill set was needed in front of our cameras and just months after being hired she was promoted to an on-air position. In 2016 she was recognized by the Alabama Associated Press Media Editors, receiving an honorable mention in their Lifestyle Feature category.
Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kacey attended Washington State University where she graduated with a BA in Communications with an emphasis in broadcast news from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. During her time at WSU, Kacey served as an active member of Cable 8 News, The Association of Women in Communications, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
After interning at KOMO 4 News in Seattle, working alongside journalists she grew up idolizing, she began her broadcasting career in 2010 as a political reporter for KFBB-TV in Helena, Montana. After extensively covering the 2011 Montana legislative session, her coverage on medical marijuana legislation was featured on several national platforms. During her time in Montana, she served as main anchor, executive producer, assignment editor and interim news director. Kacey's passion for storytelling and dedication to covering breaking news earned her an EB Craney Award for Spot News from the Montana Broadcasters Association in 2012.
Kacey is an avid concert/music festival enthusiast and a die hard Seattle Seahawks fan. When she's not working she enjoys shopping, traveling and spending time with her husband and Chihuahua/Terrier mix rescue, Cash.
