HOUSTON CO., AL (WSFA) - A man has been arrested in Houston county after a fatal stabbing that occurred on Wednesday, according to the Houston County Sheriff's office.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza says, 29-year-old Paul Peterson has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Norman Battles. The stabbing took place at Peterson's residence, located at 63 St. Mary's street in Gordan.
Investigators say a good samaritan picked up Battles and attempted to drive him to the hospital but had to pull off at the Liberty gas Station in Pansey. Battles was pronounced dead at the gas station. It appears the stabbing stemmed from a verbal argument.
Peterson was taken to the Houston County Jail with $100,000 bond but it believed he has since bonded out.
