Vernon Turner comes to WSFA 12 Weather from Greenville, Mississippi where he was Chief Meteorologist of WXVT and has worked there since July of 2012.
While working at WXVT, Vernon helped with covering high-profile storms such as Hurricane Isaac and the horrific tornado outbreaks on October 17, 2012 and April 28, 2014. Vernon also covered Hurricane Karen and winter weather that brought a rare freezing rain and snow event to the Mississippi Delta.
He is a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina and has had a strong passion for weather and weather events since he was a child. He loves school visits and sharing the knowledge of weather with the public.
Vernon is a graduate of North Carolina State University, with a B.S. degree in Meteorology.
