Legislators Oppose Education Budget

The chairmen of the House and Senate Education Budget-Writing Committees say Governor Riley's proposed budgets would "take money from schoolchildren."  Representative Richard Lindsey and Senator Hank Sanders are urging riley to withdraw his proposed budgets and submit spending plans. They asked the governor to prepare budgets that don't draw more funding from the education budget for programs that traditionally get most of their money from the general fund budget.

The govenror's office continues to defend his budgets.
