Editorial: Special Session feedback

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Last week I discussed the possibility of a special session and the lack of progress by the legislature on key issues. No surprise that this is a hot topic for many of us. Here are a few of your thoughts.

Darlyn said:

My opinion is... if they CAN'T do the job in the 30 days allowed and paid for by "we the tax payers" then fine them each the cost of the "special session" if they had this money taken back because they didn't do the one job they we're paid to do. We would get the budget passed each year on time.

Tracy added:

I heard the Indians offered to pay the State of Alabama monies to get the budget back on track if the State agreed to allow the Indians full rights to the gaming industry in Alabama...and we turned them down? I think that is a headline for news, don't you?

Danny is looking for a leader. He said:

My question is simple, where was the speaker for all this? Doesn't seem to be much of a leader.

Kayla commented:

We should start a movement to get this state back on track. We should be out there every day during this special system so these officials know we are watching them and paying attention to what they are NOT doing

And finally Mike had this idea:

Pass a Constitutional Amendment that says the budget must be passed before any other bill is pulled out of the hopper. That will speed it up so they can get their pandering bills to the floor.

These are just a few of the ideas and comments sent to us. We always appreciate everyone's feedback.
