Accused double murderer Brent Springford, Junior made his first court appearance in Montgomery on Tuesday.

Springford said nothing during the proceedings, only nodding his head occasionally as the judge told him his rights and the charges against him.

Judge Peggy Givan explained that Springford is to be held without bond for the beating deaths of his parents around Thanksgiving of 2004. Springford was also asked to fill out a financial form so the court can determine if he qualifies for a court appointed attorney at tax payers' expense.

District Attorney Ellen Brooks says Springford's case probably won't go to the grand jury for several months.

She expects it will take a while for the file to get to her because three states are involved -- Colorado, where Springford has been living; Oklahoma,  where his car was found; and Alabama, where the murders took place.
