Three Die in Covington County Crash

Three lives snuffed out too soon -- a teacher and two teenagers are dead after a horrific crash in south Alabama over the weekend. 16-year-old Kevin Meeks, 17-year-old Christen Short and 54-year-old Donna Gallion were killed in an accident on Highway 331 in Covington County.

"There are not enough words to describe her," said a friend of Donna Gallion. Erin Beyer says Gallion touched the lives of every student she taught. Beyer said, "she gave everyone the hope to carry out life with a dream."

Now, students and friends are giving back to Donna by doing work in her yard. "She didn't have time to work in this big yard of hers. She was too busy helping others," said Faye Tisdale.

Tisdale taught music and attended church with Gallion. "I know she is playing the piano and singing right now in the Lord's choir," Tisdale said.

It was Tisdale who told Gallion's 19-year old daughter, Sarah, that her mother was gone. "It was the hardest thing I have ever done," she said.

State troopers say the car Meeks and Short were in somehow ended up sideways in Donna's lane. They say she probably never saw it coming. In fact, evidence shows Gallion never even hit her brakes.

Gallion's son, Joseph, was traveling with her last night. As of Saturday, he was in a Birmingham hospital, suffering from two broken legs and a crushed elbow.
