AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Auburn middle school principal arrested in August is set to retire by the end of the year.

On Tuesday the Auburn school board approved the retirement of 51-year-old Sandra Johnson Resa, principal of J.F. Drake Middle School. Her retirement will go into effect in December.

Resa will serve in a “consultation capacity,” which means she will assist with the transition of administration at Drake including grading, parent consultations, and scheduling of administrative meetings until her retirement.

Opelika police say Resa was arrested on August 30 for third degree theft of property at the Best Buy store in Tiger Town.

Police say she stole an 8-foot HDMI cable cord valued at $39.99. Officials also say there is video footage of the alleged shoplifting.
