The Panther Spirit marching band is headed to Philadelphia to take part in the oldest holiday parade in the country. It's one of 15 bands across the country to be selected. The band director says it's a great opportunity to pave the way for the future.
"Our kids have a legacy to fulfill," said band director Rusty Courson. "When they get older their kids may be part of this band too. I'm at the point in my career where I'm teaching a lot of kids that I taught their parents here at Smiths Station."
The band is already on the road and should be back home on Friday.
