MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Several events are happening Tuesday across the the Capital City to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. City officials would like to make the public aware of the parking availability and closure of several streets downtown.
According to a press release from the city, all events are free and open to the public. Free parking will be available at the Biscuits parking lots on Columbus Street in downtown Montgomery. A free shuttle service to the Historic Remembrance will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and to the historic marker unveiling and dedication from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The public pick up points for the shuttles will be located at the Biscuits Parking Lot A at the intersection of Columbus and north Union streets. Shuttles will transport riders to the public entrance and drop-off points at the intersection of Lee and Bibb streets.
To provide for public safety, the following streets will be closed from 6 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Tuesday:
- Montgomery Street from Catoma to Commerce streets
- Lee Street from Church to Bibb streets
- Church Street from Catoma to Lee streets
