Experts offer tips to combat stress

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - How would you like to reduce your stress level without even going to the doctor? There are some things you can to that can help.

Sometimes juggling a busy schedule can take a toll, but there are some simple things you can do to help maintain a healthy balance.

  • Health experts say meditation can help. If you take a few minutes out of your day, find a quiet place, and take some deep breaths it can slow down your heart rate and lower your blood pressure.
  • Getting a walk and some fresh air can also help.
  • Listening to relaxing or soothing music can bring down the stress level too.
  • Getting exercise, especially a few times a week, can help clear the mind and take away some of your worries.

While these tips may help, there are times where you may need professional help. The Alabama Department of Mental Health and the Samaritan Counseling Center are both resources if you or someone you know needs help.
