MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

A 10-year-old child saved the day on Thursday after he brought the car, in which he was a passenger in, to a stop after the driver had an apparent diabetic episode, according to a post on the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Facebook page

The post states that around noon on Thursday, an investigator with the Attorney General's Office observed a vehicle weaving excessively on Interstate-65 near exit 181, which is the Highway 14 exit in Prattville.

The post goes on to state that the investigator attempted to stop the vehicle, which failed to yield.

An Alabama State Trooper joined in, and the vehicle finally came to a stop on Highway 14 near Browns Road.

Once the trooper and investigator made it to the vehicle, they determined that the driver was suffering a diabetic episode.

They also discovered that a 10-year-old child had steered the vehicle to safety and applied the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop.

ALEA claims that the child's actions may have saved the driver's life, his own life and the lives of other motorist that were on the road at the time.

The trooper gave the driver some food as emergency personnel arrived on scene. The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital.

The trooper took the 10-year-old, who was hungry, to a nearby fast food restaurant for a meal as they waited for the child's family members to arrive.

Millbrook Police and Fire units also assisted in the incident.
