Mason denies physical relationship with Governor Bentley

(WAFF) -

Governor Robert Bentley's senior advisor Rebekah Mason has now issued a second statement about the status of their relationship. Trent Butler here hoping you're having a nice morning on this Good Friday! Mason says in part quote, "I have never had a physical affair with Robert Bentley. We have a professional relationship and a strong friendship."

Meanwhile, Alabama House Democrats are calling on the attorney general's office to investigate Governor Bentley.  This is happening after former ALEA Secretary Spencer Collier claimed Governor Bentley asked law enforcement to lie about a criminal investigation and had an affair with Mason. Governor Bentley fired Collier saying the former leader of ALEA may have misused state funds. We'll also show you how several Alabama lawmakers, including Republican Will Ainsworth from Marshall County are looking into the possibility of recalling Governor Bentley.

Here in the Tennessee Valley, pressure is mounting on the Madison County School district to build the new Monrovia High School. In fact, one parent called out superintendent Matt Massey during last night's board meeting. She told Massey, if he had put as much effort into building the school, as he has into NOT building the school, they would be practically finished. Massey said that's just not true.

David Ernst will let you know if rain might put a damper on this Easter weekend. Join us for his forecast and much more on WAFF 48 News Today.
