PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

Another great weekend is shaping up in the River Region. This weekend Prattville is the place to be with the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic back in town for another year.

Prattville and Capitol Hill put on a great tournament and the Senator course is a great stadium type venue to watch golf from. If you are not a golf fan, don’t worry, there are plenty of other activities on the grounds. But go ahead and take a look. You might decide you want to watch the golf more than you thought.

Professional golf typically does not come to cities our size. The RSA and the City of Prattville do an incredible job presenting a top rate tournament. Some of the best players in the world and several Olympians will be here.

Later in the summer the PGA tour returns to Opelika for the second year. This is another example of “if you build they will come”. The RTJ trail was built to increase tourism in Alabama. These tournaments and the national TV audience that comes with them will showcase the trail and in our case this weekend in the River Region.

Good luck to the participants and, just as important to the tournament, staff and all of the volunteers. It looks like the weather is dialed up to be perfect and, like I have said before, if you are out at the tournament and see people from out of town, say thank you for coming. They just paid some of your taxes.
