Lanier, Trinity Seniors Win Hitchcock Honors

Montgomery's best and brightest high school seniors were honored Tuesday night at the civic center. .

Sixty-six nominees were presented Tuesday night and two were named winners of the award. They are Lanier High School's Prince Murry and Trinity High School's Carrie Edwards.

Murry, the son of Clark and Dana Milner, is a three sport letter athlete at Lanier. He won letters in football, wrestling, and track. A member of Bethlehem Temple Church, Murry's extracurricular activities included time spent teaching a young girl to read. Murry has agreed to attend Jacksonville State University on a football scholarship.

Trinity senior Carrie Edwards is the daughter of Jim and Beth Edwards. She played softball and volleyball for the school. She is active in the First Baptist church and she will attend Samford University.

The Jimmy Hitchcock Committee honors young athletes for Christian leadership. Students are nominated by their coaches and administrators for setting a Christian example of moral fitness in their athletic achievement.
