MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Westbound lanes of the Southern bypass near South Court street are back open after a crash temporarily shut down lanes Tuesday.

The crash involved an tractor trailer and a red car. Both westbound lanes of the Southern bypass were completely blocked. Traffic was re-directed off at Norman Bridge road, Narrow Lane road, and the service road that runs parallel to the bypass.

Passengers in the car were transported from the scene to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown but Director of Public Safety Chris Murphy says they are non-life threatening.

Director Murphy said the signage on the tractor trailer did indicate explosives. It has been taken off-site to be inspected by the explosives dealer.

Lanes were shut down for about an hour while crews worked to clear the scene.

WSFA Digital Content Producer Hunter Robinson went live from the boulevard on our Facebook page.
