MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

This week marks the beginning of summer. For many of that means vacations and summer fun. For many others it means kids are home all day and extra burdens on already taxed budgets.

On Thursday all of you will have a chance to help the Montgomery Area Food Bank to help those in need.

The Montgomery Area Foodbank services most of central and south Alabama and for every dollar donated, the MAFB can translate that into six and a half pounds of food for people right here.

Thursday we will be at Walmart on Chantilly Parkway from 5:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. We will again be partnering with Cumulus Media and our long term, fantastic, community partner, Dixie Electric to collect food and money to help the Food Bank do what it does best… take your money and make it go much further than you could imagine.

Last year we raised almost $8,000 and 6,100 pounds of food. This year we want to shatter that mark. Our goal is $10,000 in cash and 8,000 pounds of food.

Please make time to drop by and donate to this local cause. No amount of money is too small.  You don’t even need to get out of your car. Just drive by, and a volunteer, including many of our news team, will be there to take your donations and say “Thank you”.
