BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

One week after a deadly shooting in the Collegeville community, family members are still searching for answers and they're asking for the public's help.

Relatives say Byron Pritchett, 22, was shot and robbed. He later died from his injuries.

His uncle, Rufus Collins, says the thief took Pritchett's watch, shoes and $5 - all that he had on him at the time. Collins says so far no one has been arrested.

Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said the department is "actively pursuing a possible suspect."

"It's kind of stressful but we as a family we are holding it together. Trying to stick together to get this person apprehended," Collins said.

The family has organized a candlelight vigil which will be held Thursday, Oct 6 at 6 p.m. at 2132 32nd Avenue North in Birmingham.

The funeral will be on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 12 p.m. at Mount Hebron Baptist Church at 1620 24th Avenue North.
