MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Well it is over and Donald Trump is now the president-elect of the United States. I am sure that I will get many responses that say “I told you so”.

As a Republican I have made no bones about my disdain for Donald Trump, the candidate. I have said from the start that he did not belong in the presidential arena. Obviously he does. He is our next president.

Mr. Trump did something that I never thought he could do. He ignited more than just the conservative base. He woke up at least a portion of that silent majority that has been sitting on the sidelines for years.

So here we are only a few months away from the beginning of the Trump years.

As a Republican I am happy that the mandate will give conservative ideology a chance to work. As an American I will pray for President-elect Trump to lead well and lead smart. It is his show now and the world is watching.

In spite of all that has been said we all have to hope that he is successful and creates the growth that he has campaigned about. If he does then we will all be the better for it.

Buckle up.
