PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

A juvenile was taken into custody after an "unloaded weapon" was found at Prattville High School Tuesday morning, according to Teresa Lee, a spokesperson for the Prattville Police Department.

In a message to parents Tuesday, Autauga County Superintendent Spence Agee said the school was placed on lockdown after a weapon was reported on campus.

Lee said Prattville police and school officials found the weapon after the school was placed under lockdown.

The juvenile has been placed in a youth facility, Lee said.

In the message to parents, Agee said he helped secure the "reported weapon," and the individual is being "dealt with appropriately."

The superintendent said all students were safe.

Prattville police wouldn't give additional details about the type of weapon that was recovered.

We have made repeated attempts to get more information from the superintendent.
