MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The City of Montgomery is once again giving residents a way to destroy personal information while ensuring that it doesn't end up in the wrong hands.

Between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, you can bring up to five bags or boxes of unneeded personal information and records to Garrett Coliseum for secure shredding.

"We have tons of volunteers that are going to help unloaded it," said an event organizer. "If you want to watch it being shredded, you just pull over to the side and you can watch your particular documents being shredded."

After all of the shredding has finished for the day, all of the shredded paper will be sent to Florida to be recycled.

While it is free to shred your documents, you are encouraged to bring a donation of non-perishable food to donate to the Montgomery Area Food Bank.
