AUBURN, AL (WAFF) -

The Tigers of Handley High School are 2016 AHSAA Football Champions.

FINAL SCORE
Handley - 30
Madison Academy - 7

Handley didn’t score in the second half of the game, but the Tigers didn’t need to. The defense was that good.

The Tigers forced multiple turnovers and paralyzed the Madison Academy rushing attack. A scoop-and-score right before half gave the Tigers a 30-0 lead and seemed to put the game out of reach for the Mustangs.

Madison Academy struggled to move the ball throughout the entire game. The Mustangs found the endzone once off a pass in the 3rd quarter, but the rally never came.

Handley started the season 0-2 after losing to Callaway and Tallassee. However, the Tigers never looked back and ran the table.

Handley finishes the season 13-2.

The Mustangs finish the season 13-4.
