MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A top Air Force official will deliver a speech to students and the public at Alabama State University on Monday.

Major General Garrett Harencak, the commander of the U.S. Air Force recruiting service, is holding a meet and greet with the community to speak to local college and high school ROTC student who wish to enlist, according to ASU.

ASU officials say the event is being held at the Air Force ROTC Detachment 019, which is headquartered at ASU, from noon until 7 p.m. It will consist of a luncheon and a reception and a special motivational engagement at the ASU Abernathy Hall auditorium.

The theme of Harencak's 2:30 p.m. address will be "Leading, Serving, and Empowering."

"This is a great opportunity for our students to hear a dynamic speaker and get motivated to be the next generation of leaders, which the United States needs in its military," said Lt. Col. Ann Graham, commander of ASU AFROTC Detachment 019.

The event will focus on students, some of which were specially invited from both Jeff Davis and Lanier High Schools.
