STARKVILLE, MS (WSFA) -

Who would have thought a team that was coming off seasons of two, seven, and 12 wins would be entering its second consecutive NCAA tournament? That's the story of the Troy Trojans women's basketball team.

Troy (22-10) will travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on No. 2 seed Mississippi State (29-4) in the first-round of the NCAA tournament on Friday. The Trojans have used a high-tempo offense to help propel them to just their third-ever berth in the tournament.

During its run to a Sun Belt Conference title, Troy would record the second-most rebounds ever in a NCAA game (89) and score 100 points for the fourth time this season, as well as eclipse 100 shots in a game.

The road does get tougher for the Trojans as they will take on a Bulldogs squad coming off a loss to South Carolina in the SEC Championship game. Experience is also on the Bulldogs' side as Mississippi State has reached the second round of the NCAA tournament each of the last two seasons.

The Trojans will have to continue their hot shooting if they look to knock off the Bulldogs. Over the last three games, Troy has averaged just over 90 points per game while only surrendering 65.

The Trojans and the Bulldogs will tip off Friday at 1:30 p.m.
