MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A day after catching flak from some Troy University students and fans for a joke he made about Alabama's international university, NBC's Jimmy Fallon got a video message from one of the university's most well-known graduates.

A shirtless and recently retired DeMarcus Ware took time out of his busy sunbathing schedule to poke a little fun at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host.

"Hey Troy Trojans. This is DeMarcus," the 34-year-old greeted. "I'm tired of people talking all that trash..."

Ware, a nine-time Pro bowler, four-time First Team All-Pro, and winner of Super Bowl 50, congratulated both the Troy men's and women's basketball teams on making it to the NCAA tournament.

"Who is Jimmy Fallon, anyways?" D-Ware asked with a raised eyebrow before the 18-second video ended.

It was the men's basketball team that was featured in Fallon's parody of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal putting together his March Madness Bracket that ruffled some feathers in south Alabama.

"Duke versus Troy? That sounds like a fight between two skinny white dudes. What's Troy? That's not a college. Who goes to Troy? No one goes to Troy. Duke wins," the skit goes as Shaq comes up with unconventional ways to determine individual game winners.

Shortly after airing the skit, Fallon's Twitter account got a tweet-full of messages with the hashtag #IGoToTroy, many of which encouraged Ware to weigh-in.

While Ware was happy to oblige with a response, Fallon has - so far - remained silent.

The Troy women's team takes on Mississippi State and the men's team takes on Duke Friday in the first round of the tournament.

Troy University has extended an olive branch to Fallon, inviting him to visit campus.
