AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) -

Autauga County Superintendent Spence Agee says the student hit while getting off a bus Wednesday is progressing well.

According to Agee, the student is back home after suffering a couple of cracked vertebrae.

Alabama State Troopers say the 15-year-old child was struck by an SUV after getting off of a school bus. The incident happened on Autauga County Road 4 near Alabama Highway 14.

Agee says he is thankful that the situation was not much worse and that Autauga County schools followed all safety procedures correctly.
