New students to the Montgomery Public School system can now register for school online, according to officials with MPS.

Senior Communication Officer Tom Salter says this new online tool allows parents to take care of the registration process using their computer or smart phone.

“Parents can take care of the registration process without having to go to their child’s school,” said Superintendent Margaret Allen. “This new tool will allow them to do everything online and avoid having to miss work to register for school. This process also allows parents to enter their information directly so they can ensure accuracy.”

Parents who wish to register for the 2017 through 2018 school year can log onto this website to register online, Salter says. The link is also available under the, For Parents, tab on the system’s website.

After opening the portal, simply click on start to begin the process. If a parent doesn’t complete registration in one session, he or she can simply log back in and complete the process. Documents can also be uploaded by scanning them into a computer or by taking pictures with a smart phone.

For the list of documents needed for registration, visit the MPS website, choose parents, then click on Find School Zones to get information. You can also simply enter the street address for a list of schools where the home is zoned.
